i am a classic american mish mosh…on my father’s side i am german and norwegian and on my mother’s side i am english, irish, scottish and i don’t know what else. i am unclear on the percentages (i have never done “23 and me”) so i am not sure how MUCH irish i have. i know i have enough for pink skin that burns easily and does NOT tan, but not enough to like soda bread with raisins (WHY add raisins?) or corned beef and cabbage (smelly!) my mother loves those things so i know she has enough irish to tip her into that food palette.
i DO love the show “bad sisters” where all the irish sisters drink tea and whiskey and plot murders and then jump in the sea. (i have to watch it with subtitles though so i can break through their accents.) AND i love green eggs and ham (sam i am!) and get so excited when the leprechauns come for breakfast on st. patrick’s day. and i even love it when they come for dinner and bring green spaghetti. and i especially love when they make rainbows… i am forever hopeful that someday i will actually find their pot of gold (or win the lottery) so i can retire and become a granny and spend my days at fairyland and fenton’s with my granbabies who will have just a smidge of irish in them. happy, happy st. patrick’s day! x0x0x
