in this quilt, ann wanted to see how much depth could be created by the use of contrasting values. the block is triangle made up of two pieces with differing color tones. by using the same fabric in a diagonal row, strong diagonal movement is created. the stripes also added to this upward direction.
(the red tip of this triangle is much deeper than the light blue fabric it is paired with)
(the red fabrics create the diagonal throughway)
autumn wood is machine pieced and machine quilted. fabrics and batting are all cotton.
